This workshop will provide an opportunity for you to reflect on and develop your reading and writing practices to ensure that you demonstrate an advanced level of critical thinking in your assignments.

During these sessions, we will examine how to draw and communicate images. You will need paper, pencils, and a mobile phone with a camera or digital camera.

Explore the creative process of mono printing — a playful printmaking technique where each print is a one-off original. Using ink, rollers, and simple mark-making tools, you'll learn how to create images by drawing or pressing onto a plate, then transferring it to paper.

SPSS is a popular software package used to conduct statistical analysis, available to all DMU staff and students. This workshop will give an introduction on how to get started with SPSS. We will show how to import an Excel spreadsheet, manipulate and filter data and some descriptive statistics. This workshop is aimed at beginner level, assuming there is no prior knowledge on the use of SPSS.

Friends are often the first person that we talk to when we are having a difficult time.

This friendship can play a key role in helping someone live with or recover from difficulties they are facing. We know that providing this support isn’t always easy. It can be hard to know what to say and when to say it.

Learning to focus on the here and now can help to improve concentration and regular mindful practice can boost our feelings of wellbeing. Mindfulness can also help to manage the distractions in our day to day lives so that we can focus on study when we need to. You can find out more about the science behind mindfulness and take part in meditation practice designed to relax, recharge and refocus you at this friendly session. Beginners are welcome.
