777ӰԺ Leicester (DMU) has been ranked in the top seven per cent of universities in the world.
The university improved by more than 40 places in this year’s table, compiled by the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR).

Out of nearly 22,000 universities worldwide, DMU was placed in the top 1,500 institutions, and in the top 500 in Europe. The rankings are based on CWUR’s own assessment of university performance in a number areas including quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty member and research performance.
DMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Katie Normington said: “I am really pleased to see DMU improve its position in the CWUR rankings in the way.
“It’s a strong reflection of the commitment across the university to delivering the best teaching and research, in the most supportive and inclusive environment we can.”
DMU has also ranked 711-720 in the respected QS World University Rankings. 2025, up from 801-850 in 2024, and is also ranked 601-800 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025.
The news follows success in April this year, when international students ranked DMU as the world’s best university for overall average student satisfaction in the recent International Student Barometer the world largest international student survey.
In January, DMU became the only UK university to be named by the United Nations as a Hub Chair for one of its Sustainable Development Goals - Goal number 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities.
In in December DMU was ranked as the second most environmentally friendly university in the country in the annual People and Planet University League.
DMU climbed the ratings to be listed as 25th best university in the country in the Uni Compare Top 100 University Rankings for 2025, which compared universities according to reviews and ratings given by students and covering matters such as quality of accommodation, social life, courses, and career-building.
