Take part in a Design Thinking Hackathon with DMU London


The online event takes place on Wednesday 19 November and DMU Leicester postgrads are invited to enter.

IBM_600A hackathon is a fast-paced entrepreneurial event where student teams race to solve real-world problems within a very short timescale. DMU Leicester is no stranger to the events, with DMU Made hosting an annual face-to-face event on campus earlier this year.

This time it’s DMU London to take the lead with a ‘Design Thinking’ theme, taking place in partnership with International Business Machine (IBM). Participants will gain an IBM Certificate of Innovation for participating, plus experience of using IBM Design Thinking methodology to address severe global challenges using AI.

The event takes place on Wednesday 19 November 9am-2pm, with a briefing session on Monday 17 November. DMU Leicester postgraduate students are invited to enter the hackathon alongside DMU London students. All entrants must complete an IBM AI training course in order to take part.

How do I enter?

  1. Follow the link to complete Module 1 in IBM’s 
  2. Mark the course as complete and obtain your certificate in the ‘Action’ menu
  3. Attend the  on Monday 17 November at 10.30am for pre-event learning and to ask any questions
  4. . You will be working in groups and compete against each other to win first place, so be prepared!
  5. Obtain your certificate from IBM to share on LinkedIn and add to your CV
